Florida Man Arrested for $22K Gold Theft from Mall Kiosk After Attempting to Pawn Items
Dezmone Johnson, a 25-year-old Florida man, has been arrested in connection with the theft of over $22,000 worth of gold jewelry from a kiosk at Treasure Coast Mall in Jensen Beach. According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office, Johnson initially approached Royal Jewelers as a customer on July 20. After speaking with the clerk, he allegedly grabbed a tray containing approximately seven or eight necklaces, valued between $850 and $4,500 each, and fled the mall. Surveillance footage from both inside and outside the mall captured the incident. Detectives were able to identify Johnson's vehicle from external cameras, which led them to an address in Lauderhill, Broward County. Further investigation revealed that Johnson had attempted to pawn the stolen necklaces at a shop near that address. The Martin County Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with the Broward Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, located and arrested Johnson in Broward County.
