Joe Strada Confirmed as GOP Nominee for Florida's 11th Congressional District After Recount
Businessman Joe Strada has been officially confirmed as the Republican nominee for Florida’s 11th Congressional District following a recount of the primary election votes. Strada will now advance to the general election in November, where he will compete against Democrat James Pericola and Libertarian Ralph Groves. The seat is currently held by U.S. Rep. Daniel Webster, who announced his retirement in April. Strada secured 27,388 votes, representing approximately 33.5% of the Republican primary vote across Orange, Lake, and Sumter counties. His closest competitor, former Lake County property appraiser and state lawmaker Carey Baker, received 26,995 votes, a difference of 393 votes. This narrow margin triggered an automatic machine recount after the August 18 primary.
