Woman Arrested After Mar-a-Lago Checkpoint Standoff, Dog Fatally Shot
Alexa Rae Scharf was arrested following a standoff near President Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. The incident began when Scharf drove her gray Hyundai SUV into a closed Secret Service checkpoint at the Bath & Tennis Club's west parking lot. Despite no authorization to enter, she parked, exited her vehicle, and turned on a hose. When Secret Service Agent McGear approached, Scharf reportedly stated, "I’m here for the car wash." She then ignored commands, drove towards the agent, forcing him to move, and subsequently fled. The pursuit involved Palm Beach police and Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies, during which Scharf allegedly drove directly at officers, forcing them to take evasive action. The chase concluded in a driveway in the 1500 block of South Ocean Boulevard. During the arrest, a pit bull inside Scharf's SUV reportedly charged at officers and bit one, leading an officer to fatally shoot the dog.
