Albuquerque Restaurants Offer Support to Tomasita's Employees Following Fire-Induced Closure
A fire has forced the temporary closure of Tomasita's, a prominent Albuquerque restaurant, just days before the annual Balloon Fiesta. This closure has left many employees without income during what is typically a very busy and profitable season for local businesses. In response, other Albuquerque restaurants, including Yeller Sub and Sadie's, have stepped forward to offer temporary employment to Tomasita's staff. Nate Bywater, co-owner of Yeller Sub, expressed his concern for the affected workers, stating that disruptions to income can be devastating for families. Sadie's, another local establishment, plans to hire up to 25 new workers to accommodate the influx of business during the Balloon Fiesta and provide opportunities for those displaced by the fire. Gilbert Sanchez, director of sales at Sadie's, highlighted the community spirit and the importance of supporting fellow businesses and their employees.
