Severe Thunderstorm Warnings Issued for Central Florida
The National Weather Service has issued Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for parts of Central Florida as strong storms move through the region. A warning is in effect for southern Marion County, including the north side of The Villages, until 6:15 PM EDT. Another warning is active for northern Sumter County, including Wildwood and Bushnell, until 6:45 PM EDT. The storms are moving southwest at approximately 20 mph and are nearly stationary in some areas. The primary threats include wind speeds exceeding 50 mph, intense lightning, and small hail. Additional strong to severe storms are expected to persist through the mid-evening hours.
