19-Year-Old Dies in Crash Involving Georgia State Patrol Car During Stunt Driving Chase in DeKalb County
A 19-year-old man, Anthony Angeles, died after a Georgia State Patrol (GSP) car collided with a pickup truck during a pursuit of stunt driving suspects in DeKalb County on Monday morning. Troopers were responding to reports of illegal stunt driving involving multiple vehicles in the area of Kilman Drive and Bibb Boulevard in Tucker. When troopers arrived, several vehicles fled, and a white Chrysler 300 drove over a curb to escape, initiating a chase. During the pursuit, a GSP trooper's vehicle collided with a GMC pickup truck at the intersection of Mountain Industrial Boulevard and Hugh Howell Road. The pickup truck had been observed participating in the stunt driving activity earlier. Both vehicles caught fire. The trooper and his K-9 escaped, and the trooper attempted to assist the occupants of the pickup. Angeles, a passenger in the pickup, was transported to the hospital where he later died. The 20-year-old driver of the pickup sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
