LVMPD Officer and Pregnant Wife Waive Hearing in Alleged Credit Card Fraud Scheme
A Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) officer, Antonio Chavez, and his pregnant wife, Claudia Guzman-Marquez, have waived their right to a preliminary hearing in a case where they are accused of participating in a credit card fraud scheme. Both individuals are facing charges of theft, burglary of a business, and perjury. Officer Chavez, who joined Metro in 2020 and was assigned to the Community Safety Division in the Northwest Area Command, has been suspended without pay pending further investigation. The couple is scheduled to appear in court again later this month as the legal proceedings continue. The waiver of the preliminary hearing indicates that the case will proceed directly to district court.
