Heavy Rain and Flood Risk Expected Across Texas This Week
A slow-moving storm system is forecast to bring widespread rainfall across Texas this week, starting Tuesday night in Far West Texas and the Panhandle, and progressing eastward through Friday. Rainfall amounts are expected to range from 1.5 to 3 inches in the Panhandle and West Texas, with higher totals of 5 to 7 inches or more in some areas, particularly in North Texas. A Level 3 of 4 flood risk has been issued for several regions, including El Paso, Lubbock, Amarillo, and Dallas. The heaviest rainfall is anticipated between Wednesday night and Friday, with potential for storms to repeatedly affect the same areas, increasing the risk of flash flooding.
