Wildfire Destroys Structures in North Central Texas, Forces Evacuations
A rapidly growing wildfire, named the Ross Fire, has burned over 78 square miles (200 square kilometers) of ranchland in north central Texas since it began early Monday afternoon. The fire has destroyed multiple structures, including buildings at Worth Ranch, a youth camp, and has forced evacuations and school closures in the affected areas. Fueled by high temperatures, gusty winds, and dry conditions, the fire has proven difficult to contain, with only 8% containment reported as of Tuesday evening. Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will provide resources to combat the blaze, while urging residents to avoid activities that could spark additional fires. The National Weather Service has also issued a red flag warning for Southern California, highlighting the ongoing risk of fast-moving fires in the region.
