Hurricane Isaias Approaches Gulf Coast with Dangerous Conditions
Hurricane Isaias, a major storm, is moving north-northeastward over the central Gulf of Mexico and is expected to make landfall along the northern Gulf Coast this evening (October 9, 2026). The National Weather Service has issued a Hurricane Warning for Gulf Coastal Waters from the Okaloosa Walton County Line, Florida, to Pascagoula, Mississippi, extending up to 60 nautical miles offshore. Winds are expected to reach up to 90 knots (103 mph/166 kph) with gusts up to 115 knots (132 mph/213 kph). Seas are forecasted to reach heights of 31 feet (9.4 meters) in some areas.
