Oregon Fisherman Rescued After Being Trapped Under Boulder, Uses Siri for Help
Joe Little, a 28-year-old fisherman, was rescued after being trapped under a large boulder on the Hammond Marina jetty in Astoria, Oregon. The incident occurred early Saturday morning when a rock he was sitting on shifted and pinned him. Trapped below the high tide line, Little used his Bluetooth earbuds to activate Siri and call 911. Warrenton police and fire crews were dispatched, and they located Little by honking their car horns, which a dispatcher confirmed he could hear. Due to the hazardous terrain, a drone was used to pinpoint his exact location. Responders then devised a plan to remove smaller rocks around him to free him, rather than attempting to move the massive boulder. A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter airlifted Little to a Portland hospital, where he is being treated for severe facial injuries, including a broken jaw.
