Rhode Island Department of Transportation Implements Traffic Pattern Changes on Routes 295 and 2 for Bridge Rehabilitation
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) has initiated new traffic pattern changes on Route 295 North in Warwick and on Route 2 (South County Trail) in East Greenwich. On Route 295 North, all travel lanes are being shifted to the right on the bridge over the Pawtuxet River, just after Exit 1A (Route 113 West) in Warwick. This adjustment facilitates superstructure rehabilitation on the left side of the bridge, with all nearby on and off-ramps remaining open. This work is part of a larger $76.6 million multi-bridge project addressing six bridges along this section of I-295 in Warwick, including the demolition and replacement of two bridges over Bald Hill Road (Route 2) and two over West Natick Road, scheduled for spring and summer 2027. Simultaneously, in East Greenwich, RIDOT is making changes on Route 2 at the Route 4 interchange.
