North East ISD to Propose Closure of Up to Four Campuses by End of 2026 Amid Declining Enrollment
The North East Independent School District (NEISD) in San Antonio, Texas, is set to present a plan to its board of trustees by the end of 2026 for the closure of up to four elementary school campuses. Superintendent Anthony Jarrett communicated this development to parents, following the release of a list of 16 elementary schools that meet the district's criteria for closure. These criteria include enrolling fewer than 450 students, utilizing less than 60% of their campus footprint, and incurring above-average per-student operational costs.
