Colorado River Crisis Deepens as Lake Mead and Lake Powell Reach Historic Lows
Lake Mead and Lake Powell, the two largest reservoirs in the United States, have reached historically low levels, exacerbating the ongoing Colorado River crisis. The reservoirs, crucial for water management across seven U.S. states and Mexico, are now at levels not seen in nearly seven decades. This decline is attributed to prolonged drought, overuse, and climate change, raising concerns about water supply, hydropower generation, and environmental impacts.
