Coast Guard Locates Overdue Vessel from Block Island with Deceased Man Aboard
The U.S. Coast Guard, after seeking public assistance, successfully located the overdue vessel "Slow Ride," a 44-foot boat that had departed Block Island on Wednesday. The vessel was expected to arrive in Norfolk, Virginia, on Friday morning. On Saturday morning, a local tugboat notified the Coast Guard that a vessel matching the "Slow Ride's" description was found floating near the buoy marking the entrance to the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia Beach. Coast Guard crews boarded the vessel and discovered a deceased man aboard. The boat was subsequently towed to shore and transferred to the Virginia Beach Police Department for further investigation. The identity of the man and the nature of his death are currently under investigation.
