Shreveport Mayor Arceneaux Submits Proposed $679.9 Million 2027 Budget to City Council
Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux has submitted his administration's proposed 2027 budget, totaling $679.9 million, to the Shreveport City Council for review. The budget prioritizes maintaining current city services, funding pay increases for city employees, and preserving the city’s financial reserves. A significant focus of the proposed budget is public safety, which includes a 6% pay increase for Shreveport police officers and firefighters, effective December 1, in addition to their annual 2% raise. The General Fund, which supports essential departments like Police, Fire, SPAR, and Public Works, is proposed at $337.6 million, an increase of approximately 1.8% over the 2026 budget, with most of this increase allocated to police and fire compensation. The budget also maintains the city’s operating reserve at over $24.7 million and includes an additional $46 million for new capital projects, primarily for airports, city golf courses, and SporTran.
