Cape Coral Mayor John Gunter Absent from Council Meeting Following Primary Election Loss
Cape Coral Mayor John Gunter did not attend the city council meeting held on Wednesday night, the day after he lost his bid for re-election in the primary election. Gunter's seat remained empty as the council convened for its first meeting post-election. Voters decided that Gunter, who has served as mayor since 2021 and faced criticism during his tenure, would not advance to the general election. The upcoming November election will see Lisa Cohen Adkinson and Rick Erickson compete for the mayoral position.
