Unfinished 'The Ruins' Apartment Project in Watertown Sold to Lake Norden Company
The 'The Ruins' apartment project in downtown Watertown, South Dakota, which has remained unfinished for two years beyond its scheduled completion, has been sold to a Lake Norden company. The 63-unit, four-story apartment building, located on Kemp Avenue adjacent to Foundation Plaza, was initially started by Craig Development of Fargo. City Manager Alan Stager confirmed the sale, expressing optimism about the future of the development. The project, built on the site of the former Palace Apartments, has been a prominent, yet incomplete, structure in the city center. The new ownership is expected to take over the development and bring the long-stalled construction to completion, addressing a significant local concern regarding urban development and housing availability.
