University of Tennessee Launches New Industrial Design Program to Address Emerging Technologies
The University of Tennessee has announced the launch of a new Bachelor of Fine Arts in industrial design program, set to begin in fall 2027. This program, approved by the UT Board of Trustees and the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, will be housed in the School of Design within the College of Architecture and Design. It aims to integrate traditional industrial design education with a focus on interaction design and emerging technologies. Students will have access to existing facilities such as woodshops and the Fab Lab multidisciplinary maker space, and will collaborate with community organizations and industry partners across Tennessee. The program is part of UT's strategic mission to prepare students for real-world challenges and leadership roles.
