The district's official AI guidance acknowledges the potential benefits and limitations of generative AI in education, emphasizing the need to equip staff, students, and the community with the knowledge and skills for its effective and ethical use. However, this initiative has sparked concern among some parents, including columnist Leslie Gray Streeter, who questions the implications of AI integration in classrooms. Sherry Christian, a spokesperson for Baltimore City Public Schools, stated that the pilot program involves a limited number of staff and strict data privacy and security safeguards to evaluate the platform's features before broader implementation.
