Sevier County Corrections Officer Fired, Arrested After Allegedly Drinking While Armed at Football Game
A Sevier County corrections officer, Scottie Vineyard, was fired and arrested after being found drinking alcohol while armed at a Seymour high school football game. The incident occurred on Friday night when an attendee reported smelling alcohol on Vineyard. Sevier County Sheriff Michael R. Hodges, Jr. stated that Vineyard drove his county-issued transport vehicle to the game, wearing an SCSO polo shirt and carrying a firearm. Supervisors responded immediately to the report and confirmed that Vineyard had consumed alcohol. He was subsequently taken into custody without incident and transported to the Sevier County Jail. Vineyard faces charges of public intoxication and possession of a handgun while under the influence. Sheriff Hodges announced Vineyard's immediate termination, expressing extreme disappointment and embarrassment over the incident.
