Great Smoky Mountains National Park Announces Temporary Road Closures for Maintenance
Great Smoky Mountains National Park is implementing temporary closures on portions of Little River Road for essential road maintenance. These closures are scheduled for two mornings: September 15 and September 17, from 7 a.m. until noon each day. On September 15, the section between Townsend Wye and Metcalf Bottoms Picnic Area will be closed. Motorists can use Wears Valley Road (U.S. 321) between Townsend and Line Springs Road as a detour. The second closure on September 17 will affect the roadway between Metcalf Bottoms and Elkmont Junction, with Wears Valley Road between Line Springs Road and Pigeon Forge serving as the alternative route. Despite the road restrictions, popular destinations such as Elkmont, Metcalf Bottoms, and Cades Cove will remain accessible to visitors.
