Franklin Police Department Increases Officer Salaries Amidst Regional Competition for Law Enforcement Personnel
The Franklin Police Department in Middle Tennessee has raised the starting salaries for its police officers. Entry-level officers will now begin at $68,000, while certified lateral officers can earn between $73,000 and $77,000, depending on their verified law enforcement experience. This adjustment positions Franklin's police force with one of the highest starting salaries in the region, surpassing neighboring departments such as Murfreesboro ($67,921), Nashville ($66,204), Smyrna ($66,304), Mt. Juliet ($61,960), and Clarksville ($57,712). The move comes as police departments across Middle Tennessee, including Franklin, Murfreesboro, Nashville, and Smyrna, are actively hiring to meet the demands of a growing population. Franklin Police Chief Deb Faulkner stated that this investment reflects the department's appreciation for its officers and its commitment to attracting top talent.
