Severe Storms Impact Corn Belt Amid Mixed Crop Conditions
Recent severe storms have swept through the Corn Belt, affecting areas from Iowa to Ohio, with significant rainfall reported in western and northwestern regions. While the rain has provided much-needed moisture to drought-stricken areas, it has also created challenges such as wet spots and nitrogen issues in Illinois fields. Crop scouts have observed mixed conditions, including hail damage and disease presence, but no widespread alarms have been raised. Corn yields in Nebraska range from 145 to 213 bushels per acre, with an average of 178.02 bushels per acre, while soybean pod counts average 1,135.8 in a 3'x3' square.
