Severe Storms Threaten Tornado Alley and Upper Midwest
Severe storms are expected to impact areas from the Texas Panhandle to Lake Superior today, driven by a cold front and unstable atmospheric conditions. The Storm Prediction Center has issued an Enhanced Risk (3 out of 5) for parts of the Texas Panhandle, including Amarillo and Pampa, where golf ball-sized hail and winds exceeding 70 mph are possible. A Slight Risk (2 out of 5) covers northwestern Wisconsin and northeastern Minnesota, including Duluth, with threats of damaging winds over 60 mph, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. A Marginal Risk (1 out of 5) connects these regions, affecting cities like Colorado Springs, Omaha, Des Moines, and Minneapolis. Additional risks are present in the Deep Southeast, including Mobile, Jacksonville, and Savannah, due to a stalled front and moist air mass.
