Rex Block Alters Weather Patterns Across California
A meteorological phenomenon known as a 'rex block' is currently affecting weather patterns across California, leading to a mix of warm and cool conditions. This system involves a low-pressure area undercutting a high-pressure system, causing winds to swirl in various directions. As a result, temperatures are expected to rise significantly in some areas, such as Cupertino, Saratoga, and Los Gatos, where highs could reach 80°F (27°C). Meanwhile, coastal areas like San Francisco and Oakland may see temperatures around 70°F (21°C). The rex block is also causing a cooling trend in Southern California, with ocean breezes expected to lower temperatures by 10 degrees or more in Los Angeles and San Diego. The Central Valley will experience a break in tule fog, leading to warmer conditions with highs in the 70s.
