Colorado Man Arrested in Central Nebraska After Multi-County Police Pursuit
Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested a Colorado man, Candelario Garcia, 30, of Denver, following a multi-county pursuit in central Nebraska on Saturday. The incident began around 9:00 a.m. when a trooper observed a Toyota Camry speeding on westbound Interstate 80 near Kearney. The driver, Garcia, refused to yield during a traffic stop attempt, initiating the pursuit. During the chase, Garcia accelerated to speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. Troopers successfully deployed stop sticks near mile marker 248, and Dawson County deputies also deployed stop sticks near mile marker 242 to slow the vehicle. A tactical vehicle intervention by a trooper ultimately brought the pursuit to an end. Upon Garcia's arrest, a small amount of suspected cocaine was found in the vehicle. He was subsequently lodged in Buffalo County Jail.
