Montgomery City Leaders Unveil New Flag Initiated by Youth Petition
Montgomery city leaders held a ceremony to debut a new city flag, which was raised above the city council building. The initiative for a new flag originated from a petition started by a young scholar, Jeremiah Treece. Treece felt that the previous flag did not adequately represent the current city and its diverse culture, reflecting only a specific historical period. After extensive research, Treece launched a petition, initially through social media, to advocate for a change. Following his presentation to the city council, a design contest was organized, receiving 27 entries. The winning design was created by Joshua Gordon, who aimed to create a flag that instilled pride and represented the city's movement and growth while acknowledging its history.
