Georgia Woman Sues Over Wrong Cancer Diagnosis and Unnecessary Surgery
Cassandra Barksdale, a woman from Fulton County, Georgia, has filed a lawsuit against Kaiser Permanente and associated entities after a misdiagnosis led to an unnecessary total hysterectomy. Barksdale was initially diagnosed with aggressive endometrial uterine cancer based on a mislabeled tissue sample. She underwent surgery, only to later discover that the cancerous tissue belonged to another patient. The lawsuit alleges negligence and chain-of-custody failures, seeking compensatory damages exceeding $10,000. Barksdale's attorneys emphasize the emotional and physical trauma she endured due to the error.
