White House Announces President Trump to Use Old Air Force One During Jet Upgrades
The White House has announced that President Donald Trump will temporarily revert to using an older Air Force One aircraft while the newer, Qatari-gifted jet undergoes additional upgrades and enhancements. This decision comes amid scrutiny over the new plane, which lacks some of the missile detection and countermeasure systems present in the older models. The scrutiny intensified after President Trump used the older Air Force One to leave a NATO summit in Turkey, making an unscheduled stop at a UK base before switching back to the new jet. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the new aircraft is safe but will receive further upgrades in the fall, requiring about a month to complete. President Trump has downplayed security concerns, attributing the UK stop to allowing U.S. troops to view the new plane.
