Spain Boosts Tourism with Recognition of 16 New Cultural Festivals
Spain has officially recognized 16 new tourist festivals as part of a broader initiative to enhance cultural travel and stimulate regional tourism growth across the country. This recognition aims to increase the visibility of lesser-known local practices and traditions, drawing visitors to areas beyond the most frequented urban and coastal destinations. The newly recognized festivals include 11 Festivals of National Tourist Interest and 5 Festivals of International Tourist Interest. Examples of national interest festivals are the Water Race in Lanjarón, Granada, and the Entroido de Cobres in Vilaboa, Pontevedra. International interest festivals include the Festival of the Exaltation of Botillo in Bembibre, León, and the Weddings of Isabel de Segura in Teruel. This initiative by the Spanish Government seeks to promote tourism in a more equitable and sustainable manner, supporting local businesses and employment.
