WEF Employee Falsely Accused of Plotting to Assassinate President Trump
An employee of the Swiss-based World Economic Forum (WEF) was arrested in January following an anonymous email accusation that she was planning an attack on President Trump during the WEF's annual meeting in Davos. The woman, an IT specialist of Iranian origin, was portrayed as an agent involved in an assassination plot. The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland (OAG) initiated proceedings and an investigation. The woman, who had only been working at the WEF for a few months and was not accredited for the Davos event, was arrested at her workplace, questioned for over six hours, and had her mobile phones and computer seized. Her social media activity was also examined. However, the investigation found no evidence to substantiate the allegations of espionage or terrorist plot planning, and the case was subsequently closed by the OAG. Despite the false accusations, the IT specialist was later dismissed by the WEF, citing reasons not directly linked to the investigation.
