French Nationals Released from Iran, Returning to France, Macron Announces
French nationals Cecile Kohler and Jacques Paris have been released from Iran and are on their way back to France after being detained for over three years. President Emmanuel Macron announced their release on social media, which was met with a standing ovation from lawmakers at the National Assembly. The two were initially imprisoned in Iran's Evin Prison on espionage charges. Their release was part of a diplomatic exchange, where France released an Iranian national in return, as reported by Iran's IRNA state news agency.
