Texas Man Involved in Secret Service Shootout Near White House
A suspect identified as Michael Marx, holding a Texas driver's license, was involved in a shootout with Secret Service agents near the White House. The incident occurred when plainclothes officers noticed Marx, who appeared to have a firearm, and alerted uniformed officers. Marx allegedly fired at the agents, who returned fire, resulting in Marx being hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. A bystander, a minor, was also injured by a ricocheted bullet. The Secret Service is investigating the incident, which took place near 15th Street and Independence Avenue. The motive behind the suspect's actions remains unclear, and it is not known if there is any connection to President Trump or the White House.
