Chrysler Recalls Over 1.27 Million Ram Pickups Due to Seat Belt Safety Concerns
Chrysler has announced a recall of more than 1.27 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks in the United States due to a potential seat belt safety issue. The recall affects model years 2019 through 2026, with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimating that approximately 0.1% of the recalled vehicles may have the defect. The issue involves improperly installed second-row seat belt buckle anchors, which could lead to non-compliance with federal safety standards. Chrysler has stated that the defect stems from a vehicle assembly issue rather than a faulty component. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, properly attach the seat belt buckle anchors to the vehicle's body structure at no cost to owners. Notifications to dealers began on August 6, with owner notifications set to start on August 18.
