Pentagon Forms Task Force to Evaluate Cyber-Capable AI Models Amid Supply Chain Concerns
The Pentagon is reportedly forming a task force to explore the adoption and potential weaponization of frontier cyber-capable AI models. This initiative includes evaluating Anthropic's unreleased Claude Mythos Preview. The task force, announced by Joshua Rudd, who is identified as the leader of Cyber Command and the director of the NSA, involves both Cyber Command and the NSA. Earlier this year, Anthropic was designated as a supply chain risk by the Pentagon, theoretically barring its technology from use by Pentagon entities and contractors. Details regarding the task force's scope, legal authority, and operational plans remain limited.
