Emmanuel Mercy Mission Delivers Decades of Humanitarian Aid, Including Recent Ukraine Shipments
For over three decades, Emmanuel Mercy Mission has been a prominent humanitarian aid organization, specializing in delivering vital relief supplies directly to families in international crisis zones. Founded in 1992 by Valery Shkurinsky and Vladimir K. Durshpek, the mission began with volunteers sorting and packing aid in a private home. Early efforts included shipping over 250 containers of food, clothing, and medical supplies to countries of the former Soviet Union, including Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus. After a period of financial difficulties in the 2000s that limited large transoceanic shipments, the mission resumed active operations in 2016. They updated their non-profit structures and renewed a partnership with Medical Teams International, enabling them to ship high-quality medical supplies to Ukraine, Belarus, and Burundi. A recent shipment to Ukraine in 2022 involved the full staff of Medical Teams International for staging, loading, and inspection.
