Parents Sue Mental Health Facility After Teen Mosque Shooter Was on FBI Radar Before Attack
The parents of Caleb Vazquez, one of the teenagers involved in a fatal mosque shooting in Clairemont, California, have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Park Mental Health Treatment of San Diego. The lawsuit alleges that the facility failed to act with urgency after the FBI informed Vazquez's mother about his concerning dark web chats regarding school shootings and suicides. Vazquez, 18, reportedly went missing from the facility the night before the May 18 attack on the Islamic Center of San Diego. The parents claim the facility did not protect Vazquez from 'self-destructive actions,' such as transferring him to a locked facility. The lawsuit accuses Park of negligence, wrongful death, medical malpractice, and abuse or neglect of a dependent adult.
