UNICEF Strengthens Cholera Response in Kenya Through Community Engagement and Capacity Building
UNICEF is actively involved in bolstering Kenya's response to cholera outbreaks and other waterborne diseases. This initiative, spearheaded by the Global Programme Division (GPD) Centre of Excellence for WASH in Nairobi, focuses on enhancing Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) and Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP). The organization provides technical assistance, facilitates knowledge sharing, and builds capacity among Country Offices, governments, and partners. The goal is to ensure that communities are well-informed, engaged, and empowered during public health emergencies. This comprehensive approach aims to translate global guidance into practical, country-level solutions, thereby strengthening emergency preparedness and response mechanisms. The efforts are crucial for preventing disease outbreaks and protecting vulnerable populations, particularly children, in challenging environments.
