FBI Offers $200,000 Reward for Information on Former Agent Charged with Espionage for Iran
The FBI Washington Field Office has announced a $200,000 reward for information leading to the capture and prosecution of Monica Witt, a former U.S. service member and counterintelligence agent. Witt was indicted by a federal grand jury in February 2019 on charges of espionage, including transmitting national defense information to Iran. Witt, who served as an intelligence specialist in the U.S. Air Force and later as a contractor, had access to sensitive information, including the identities of undercover U.S. intelligence personnel. In 2013, she defected to Iran and allegedly provided the Iranian government with classified information, endangering U.S. personnel and their families. The FBI continues to seek Witt, who remains at large, and urges anyone with information to come forward.
