Uganda Unveils Memorial for Yoni Netanyahu at Entebbe, Highlighting Renewed Ties with Israel
Uganda has unveiled a memorial dedicated to Lt. Col. Yonatan 'Yoni' Netanyahu at the Old Entebbe Terminal, the site of the 1976 hostage-rescue operation where he was killed. The ceremony was led by Uganda's chief of defense forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who emphasized the monument as a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and the strengthened relationship between Uganda and Israel. Netanyahu, the older brother of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, led the Israeli force during the operation. The event also commemorated the civilians and Ugandan soldiers who died during the crisis, distinguishing the current Ugandan government from the dictatorship of Idi Amin, which was involved in the crisis.
