Severe Storms and Flash Flooding to Persist Across Plains and Mississippi Valley
The central United States is bracing for multiple days of severe thunderstorms, with damaging winds, large hail, and a growing flash flood threat. According to AccuWeather, the storms will impact the Plains and Mississippi Valley throughout the week, with the strongest activity expected Thursday and Friday. Areas from central Montana to southern Minnesota and northeastern Colorado are at risk for severe weather, including hail up to golf ball size and wind gusts reaching 85 mph. Flash flooding is also a concern, particularly in West Texas and New Mexico, where burn scars from wildfires increase vulnerability. The severe weather will shift eastward into the Mississippi Valley by Friday and continue into the weekend, with additional risks for the Great Lakes and Northeast regions.
