Direct Relief Expands Aid Operations in South Sudan Amidst Deadly Floods

Direct Relief has expanded its humanitarian aid operations in South Sudan, a region severely impacted by deadly floods that have displaced thousands. The organization recently delivered 15 emergency midwife kits to South Sudan from its reserve. These kits were allocated to Transformation of the World in Christ (TWIC) for distribution among its partner network, which serves internally displaced people and refugees. The recipients of these vital supplies include the South Sudan Nurses and Midwives Association, Juba Teaching Hospital, Lighthouse Hospital, and Mother Teresa Hospital. This initiative aims to address the critical healthcare needs exacerbated by the ongoing flood crisis, particularly concerning maternal health, as many hospitals become inaccessible during the rainy season. South Sudan already faces one of the highest maternal mortality rates globally, making such interventions crucial for saving lives and supporting vulnerable populations.
