Elon Musk Responds to Documentary Labeling Him 'Most Miserable Man'
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Inc. and Space Exploration Technologies Corp., has publicly refuted claims from an upcoming documentary that describes him as 'the most miserable man.' Musk stated on X that he is 'happy about half the time, somewhere in the middle about 40% and sad about 10% of the time.' His mother, Maye Musk, also dismissed the claim as 'weird,' noting she has not seen him miserable. The documentary, directed by Oscar-winner Alex Gibney, is nearly four hours long and posits that Musk is 'aggregating power' dangerously, primarily through his control of vast amounts of data. Gibney characterizes Musk as a 'confidence man whose power comes only from the stock market' and suggests that 'suffering will pile up' as Musk accrues more power and becomes less inclined to check his impulses. The film, which does not include an interview with Musk, is set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 8, with a theatrical release in October and an HBO debut in the first half of 2027.
