Hurricane Isaias Brings Flooding to Gulf Coast
Hurricane Isaias, currently a Category 1 storm, is moving toward the northern Gulf Coast of the United States and is expected to make landfall late Friday into early Saturday. The National Hurricane Center has issued warnings urging residents to complete preparations to protect life and property. The storm is forecasted to bring heavy rainfall, with 3-7 inches expected across southeastern Louisiana to the Florida Big Bend area, and localized areas potentially receiving up to 15 inches. Gusty winds, flash flooding, river flooding, and tornado risks are anticipated, particularly on the northeastern side of the storm. Storm surge levels could reach up to 7 feet in some areas, including Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and Mobile Bay, Alabama. New England may experience remnants of the storm Sunday night into Monday, with lighter rainfall expected.
