Boston Residents Form Group to Support Judges Facing Threats
A group of Boston-area residents has formed an organization called Support the Courts to defend federal judges who are facing threats and intimidation. This initiative comes in response to increasing hostility towards judges, highlighted by U.S. District Judge Esther Salas, who lost her son in a violent attack at her home six years ago. Judge Salas, speaking at an American Bar Association conference, expressed concern over the ongoing intimidation tactics, including 'pizza-doxing' incidents where unwanted deliveries are made in the name of her deceased son. The group, led by Naomi Leavitt, aims to bolster public support for the judiciary, emphasizing that threats to judges undermine democracy. They have launched campaigns to send supportive postcards to federal judges and provide toolkits for other communities to join the effort.
