Charlotte Knobloch, a 93-year-old prominent German Holocaust survivor and Jewish community leader, has received a death threat referencing the recent electoral success of the right-wing AfD party. Police in Munich are investigating the threat, which was found scrawled on a park bench and included a Star of David, according to dpa reports. Knobloch, who has publicly advocated for banning the AfD, canceled her attendance at a book launch scheduled near where the threat was discovered. The AfD, or Alternative for Germany, recently secured 43.8% of the vote in the Saxony-Anhalt state election, gaining 39 seats in the local parliament. This incident highlights growing concerns about antisemitism and the rise of far-right political movements in Germany.
