Raleigh Police Investigate Fatal Crash of Missing Cary Man
Raleigh Police are currently investigating a fatal crash involving Linwood Phillips, a 48-year-old man who had been reported missing from Cary, North Carolina. The incident occurred when officers responded to a call just before 4:30 p.m. on Monday, discovering an overturned vehicle off the ramp from I-40 west to inbound Wade Avenue. The car was found down an embankment and into the woods. Phillips, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have determined that the vehicle was traveling at least 70 mph when it left the roadway and went airborne, causing severe intrusion into the driver's cabin. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
