Davenport Police Recover High-Powered Firearms, Arrest Seven After Crowd Dispersal
Davenport police recently seized multiple high-powered firearms, including one with a 30-round drum magazine and a handgun converted to fully automatic, following a crowd dispersal incident on Pacific Street. Officers responded to reports of a crowd exceeding 50 people that had become unruly. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, the crowd scattered, but police were able to apprehend five adults and two juveniles in connection with the incident. Chief Greg Behning expressed significant concern over the increasing number of illegally altered and high-capacity firearms being recovered, noting that the magazine capacity of some seized weapons, such as 9mm and .45 caliber pistols, is particularly alarming given that most police departments are armed with 9mm handguns. The identities of those arrested have not yet been disclosed by the police department.
