Cruise Ship Quarantined in France Amid Norovirus Outbreak
A cruise ship operated by Ambassador Cruise Line has been quarantined in Bordeaux, France, after an outbreak of norovirus affected over 50 passengers and crew. The ship, carrying 1,223 passengers and 514 crew, was confined for more than 24 hours following reports of gastrointestinal illness symptoms. A 92-year-old British passenger died of a suspected heart attack, though no link has been established with the outbreak. French health authorities confirmed the presence of norovirus, a highly contagious virus causing vomiting and diarrhea. Asymptomatic passengers have been allowed to disembark, while those infected remain on board for treatment. The ship was authorized to continue its voyage, with enhanced hygiene protocols in place.
